Unilinx vs. LinkTree – Which is Better? Plus an FAQ on Everything LinkTree

While you may not know it, there are tens of different link-sharing platforms out there that all aim to do the same thing: share your most important links on Instagram. The most popular platform today to do this is LinkTree. But, how does LinkTree work exactly? If you haven’t checked out our LinkTree Review and Alternatives guide, go and check that out right here before proceeding.

In this guide, we’ll take a look at Unilinx and how it stacks up against LinkTree. We’ll take a quick look at each platform and share with you our thoughts on each. Let’s get started.

To quickly summarize, LinkTree is a platform that helps users to share links to virtually anything: blogs, social media profiles, registration links, products, and plenty more. A platform like this exists because of Instagram users’ number one biggest complaint and that is they are unable to share URLs in the captions of their posts. However, users are able to share a URL in the bio section of their Instagram profile, but this is limited to one URL only.

Enter LinkTree (and countless other link-sharing platforms).

With LinkTree, users can add as many links as they want to their own personal LinkTree page. In our previous guide reviewing LinkTree, we used this example of YouTube vlogger, Pailin, using LinkTree as a way to share her website, cookbook, recipes, merchandise, and more. This is how her LinkTree is set up:

Unilinx vs Linktree

LinkTree is incredibly easy to get started with and is a very intuitive platform to use. Signing up takes a minute and learning to use it probably takes about the same amount of time. As great as LinkTree is, however, perhaps, the biggest downside to it is that it comes with free and paid pricing plans. While the free plan does allow you to put as many links as you want on your LinkTree, that’s really all you get under the free plan.

If you want to learn more about LinkTree or even if you have any questions, we’ll take a look at the most commonly asked ones and answer them in our FAQ section in the latter part of this guide.

Depending on how much value you think you’ll get from a platform like LinkTree, $6 per month can add up and really be an unnecessary expense, considering the wealth of other link-sharing platforms out there.

  • Is the most established and reputable 3rd-party link-sharing platform out there.
  • Very intuitive interface allows you to easily learn how to use it as you go.
  • The preview feature is an excellent one to have as you can see what your links will look like and the order in which they will appear.
  • You get to add as many links as you want to your LinkTree.

  • Lack of branding. If you have a certain brand or style, you won’t be able to display or replicate it using LinkTree.
  • Customization is limited under the free plan. You can add as many links as you want but won’t get to tailor how they look (i.e. adding a thumbnail).
  • Must pay for more features and functionality.

If you’re familiar with how link-sharing platforms like LinkTree works, then you’ll feel right at home with Unilinx. The Unilinx interface is very similar to that of LinkTree and is also very easy and intuitive to use. Unilinx is, quite possibly, the best alternative out there to LinkTree, and what puts it over the top is that it is 100%, completely FREE. Let’s take a quick look and see how it’s set up.

LInktree vs UniLinx

1. To begin using Unilinx, simply click on the pink Add New Link button.

2. You’ll then be prompted to enter the title of your link. Enter something here that would give people visiting your Unilinx an idea of what they should expect when clicking on this link.

3. Paste in here the URL.

4. After you’ve entered your link title and URL, you’ll then begin to see it populate in the preview section on the right. This will show you what your links will look like once it’s been published. To publish your link, simply click on the blue toggle that is located on the same line as the Enter Title (on the far right).

5. This is where you’ll find your own personal link that you can copy and paste into your Instagram bio section.

One thing that Unilinx does not give you that LinkTree does, is the ability to customize your links by including a thumbnail image with it, but only under LinkTree’s paid plan. While this is a nice to have, it’s definitely unnecessary and can take away from the link itself. Plus, the thumbnail would be so incredibly small and can be hard to decipher what the image is (take a look at our example of the foodie YouTuber above).

Another great feature of Unilinx is that they are 100% integrated with their social media scheduling platform, Uniclix. Uniclix offers users with multiple social media accounts and across the various different social media platforms, to schedule out their posts. Having that synergy is an excellent way to be able to keep all of your social media tools under one umbrella as opposed to being registered for different accounts across different platforms.

Did we also mention that Uniclix comes with a free, 14-day trial? So, if you’re looking for that perfect social media platform to schedule out your social posts on time, don’t sleep on Uniclix. Here is the link to their pricing plans where you can also click to start your 14-day, free trial.

  • Very similar interface as LinkTree and is just as intuitive and easy to use.
  • The preview feature is an excellent one to have as you can see what your links will look like and the order in which they will appear.
  • You get to add as many links as you want to your LinkTree.
  • 100% completely free to use with no paid plan offerings.

  • Lack of branding. This issue is also experienced in LinkTree and brands will not be able to show off their branding using Unilinx.
  • Customization is limited to just adding your link title and link URL. You can’t add any thumbnails or a background image, for example.

This is a trick question and it’s a question that many people have when it comes to using their Instagram. Unfortunately, the answer is you can’t add multiple links in your Instagram profile bio. That is why the existence of these 3rd-party apps like LinkTree and Unilinx exist. They are meant to circumvent this “one-URL” rule that Instagram has.

How do I get a LinkTree account?

To get a LinkTree account, you’ll need to sign up for one which you can do here. To sign up, you’ll need to enter your email address, username, and password. It will then ask you if you want to register for the free or paid plan, which is $6 per month. If you haven’t used LinkTree before and just want to try it out first, select the free plan and then if you want to upgrade to the paid plan, you can do so at a later time.

To link using LinkTree is exactly the same process as it is to link using Unilinx. Take a chance to review this process above if you haven’t already. For those that don’t remember, to get started linking using LinkTree, simply click on the Add New Link button to begin adding your first link. Give your link a title name, followed by the actual URL of the link, and then you can add an optional thumbnail if you want. You can turn this link on and off by clicking the toggle button on the far right. Toggling this on or off will tell LinkTree if you want this link to be visible or not.

Do you have to pay for Linktree?

No, you don’t have to pay for LinkTree. However, they do offer a paid pricing plan, which comes out to $6 per month and with this plan, you definitely get much more functionality and value out of it. Whereas, with the free plan, aside from adding links to your LinkTree, you don’t get much else.

Is Linktree banned on Instagram?

This is a frequently asked question simply because there are so many different 3rd-party, link-sharing platforms out there right now. LinkTree was most likely the first platform that was used on Instagram as a way to share important links and since then, tens of other link-sharing platforms have burst onto the scene, which is probably why this question is asked. People see Instagram users using different link-sharing platforms and are probably seeing LinkTree less and less. Of course, one of the latest link-sharing platforms is Unilinx and you can use it for free.

Why is everyone using LinkTree?

When it first came out, definitely everyone hopped on the LinkTree bandwagon and for good reason too. They had successfully found a way to work around the one-link rule in Instagram and were able to also monetize its platform as well. However, as we just mentioned, there are plenty of other and even better link-sharing platforms out there. In fact, if you love the LinkTree interface so much but hate paying $6 every month to use it, you should definitely give Unilinx a shot too. It has virtually the same interface and the user experience is very similar. Also, if you’re a social media manager of a company or brand, Unilinx is also integrated with Uniclix, a social media scheduling platform.

What is so special about LinkTree?

What makes LinkTree so special is that it is incredibly simple and easy to use. You don’t have to be a tech-savvy person to know how to use it. In fact, it’s biggest selling feature is probably how quick you can get your first link up on your LinkTree. This is an effective solution for many people that are just looking to share their content with their audience. If you aren’t concerned about branding, because the free LinkTree version will prevent you from being able to tailor the look and feel of your LinkTree, then LinkTree is a solid choice.

What alternatives are there to LinkTree?

This is a very common question because people either want to see what other options are out there or they don’t want to pay $6 per month for more functionality. Fortunately for you, we’ve already covered this in-depth which you can read here

Can I add a form or survey to my LinkTree?

Yes, you can add a form, survey, and questionnaire to your LinkTree, as long as you have created the form and you have the URL that links directly to this form. Once you have the URL, you can add it to your LinkTree like you would any other link. When people click on this survey or questionnaire, they’ll then be taken to where your form is located and all of the form submissions will be stored on the server you created your form on and not in LinkTree.
