Your social media marketing agency is growing. You started as a solopreneur, but now you have a team of social media marketers helping you to generate good results for your clients on Facebook and Instagram.
You are tired of manually assigning tasks to team players every time. You are also worried that sharing your clients’ page logins with many people may compromise your work and bring up privacy concerns.
Here is where the Facebook Business Manager comes in.
The Facebook Business Manager helps you to manage multiple Facebook pages and ad accounts seamlessly. In this article, you are going to learn how to set up and use the business manager.
Let’s dive in.
What is Facebook Business Manager?
The Facebook Business Manager is a tool that helps you to manage ad accounts, multiple Facebook pages and share access to your business assets with other people. Simply put, the Facebook business manager is a one-stop solution to all your Facebook marketing activities. You can also use the tool to manage Instagram accounts and product catalogs.
Let’s say that you run a social media marketing agency for eCommerce companies. The Facebook Business Manager allows you to grant your employees partial or full access to your Facebook pages, depending on their roles. This enables you to delegate tasks to various team members easily. You can also track marketing efforts using the Facebook Business Manager, resulting in better strategies for your clients.
How will Facebook Business Manager benefit my business?
Now that you know the Facebook Business Manager, let me show you the benefits it can bring to your business:
It improves your focus on the business page
The Facebook Business Manager separates your personal profile from the business pages. This prevents the scenarios where you accidentally post something personal on your business pages. With the tool, you can access the power editor, ads manager, and other business assets without interacting with personal notifications and newsfeeds. So you are not distracted from your work.
It enables the secure sharing of access with many people
If you are an agency, you must be looking for ways to allow users access to your business assets safely. The Facebook Business Manager allows you to provide access to other users without giving them control over your assets.
It controls the level of access of users
If a team player leaves your company, you would have to go through each business asset to revoke the person’s access. But with the Facebook business manager, you can do this with a few clicks in the People’s section. The tool also allows you to give access to team players based on their roles. So you can delegate tasks without risking the security of your assets.
It creates custom campaigns for different audiences
If you run an agency and have many clients, then the Facebook business manager will help you to develop custom ad campaigns for various audiences. Instead of using multiple tools, you save time and increase convenience by doing everything with one tool.
It allows you to manage all your business accounts effectively
The Facebook business manager brings all your business assets into a centralized location. This allows you to easily manage your ad accounts and multiple Facebook pages without switching from asset to another, which increases the chances of errors. It also allows you to monitor your ads’ performance, which results in better strategies for clients.
How to set up the Facebook business manager
At this point, you know the benefits your business or agency gets by using the Facebook business manager. Now let me guide you on how to set up a Facebook business manager account:
#1 Create your business manager account
Go to https://business.facebook.com/ to set up your business manager account.
Once you land on the Business.Facebook.com page, click on the “Create Account” button at the top right corner. You will be required to input your name, business name, and the email address you intend to use to manage the account. Once you’ve entered the details, click on the “Submit” button.
A new box will open, and you would be required to give more information about your business, including physical address, phone number, and website. Select how you will use your business manager account: whether it is to provide services to other businesses or to promote your organization.
Click on the “submit” button once you have given all the required information.
At this point, you would receive a confirmation email from Facebook to the business email address you submitted. Click the “Confirm Now” button in that email. And now, you have a Facebook business manager account.
#2 Link all your existing Facebook and Instagram pages
The next step is to claim your business assets. If you have existing Facebook and Instagram pages, now is the time to link them to your Facebook Business Manager Account. You also have the option of creating a business page. If you are handling other companies’ business pages, you can only request access to their pages.
Only add business pages that you own to the Facebook Business Manager. If you claim your client’s business page without requesting access, their access may be restricted.
On your dashboard, there is the option to either Create Page or Add Page.

To link an existing Facebook page, click on the “Add Page” option to enter the Page name and URL. If you own the Facebook page, then Facebook will automatically accept your link request.
#3 Link your ad account
The next step is to link your ad accounts to the Facebook Business Manager. Just like the pages, you can automatically link ad accounts that you own or you are an admin of.
The Ad Account options are in the upper row under the business manager settings. You will see the Add account, Create New Account, and Request Access Options.
If you want to add an existing ad account, click on “Add ad account” and then enter your account ID. If you don’t have an ad account yet, then you can go ahead and create one.
Just like with Facebook pages, if you are managing your client’s ad accounts, you would have to request access to the ad accounts to avoid restricting that person’s access. Enter the ID of the client’s ad account you want to access.
#4 Add users to the business manager account
If you are running an agency or a large business, adding people to your business manager account is a crucial step. To do this, go to your business settings and click “People”. Click on the “Add” button to begin the process.
Enter the email address of people you want to access the Facebook business manager. You have the option to assign them a business role. You can give them admin access or limit their access to the employee level.
When you grant someone access, you will have to determine the tools and accounts they can access. This makes the Facebook Business Manager appropriate for social media agencies because you can delegate different tasks to people at the same time. So it’s easy to manage many clients’ accounts without risking security.
If you want to assign partners, go to the specific business asset’s page and click the “Assign Partner” button. Enter the partner’s business manager ID and determine the role you would like the partner to have.
If you go back to the Business Settings menu and click on the “Partners” option, you will see all the partners, including the business assets you have assigned to them. These partners can add or remove people, add or remove accounts, and determine the access level that users have in those particular assets.
How do I add an Instagram account to my Facebook Business Manager?
Go to your Business Manager Dashboard, and click on the Business Settings icon. Find the Accounts button and click on Instagram accounts. Click on the Add option.
A pop-up box will appear immediately. Input your Instagram login details and click on Next.
